Hintikka’s biography She Chose Merrill Hintikka as Her Name (published January 7) apparently is only available in Finnish: Hän valitsi nimekseen Merrill Hintikka.
Now there is the rare exception that proves the rule. The oerwhelming majority of philosophers who venture into this domain of human activity are responsible for recurring scandals (at some of the highest levels of the discipline, I might add). This is followed by the construction of models of modal logic by apologists, motivated by involuntary inexperience, who raise questions whether anything scandalous happened, based on the cardinality of the number of possible worlds.
I understand that one wants one’s posts to be read, but would not it have been fairer to represent the link as referring to “Hintikka’s private life” or “Hintikka speaks about his wife” or “Jaakko Hintikka and Merrill Provence”, instead of letting the reader think that MP had an affair with JFK while being married to Hintikka? I know, you just repeated the article’s original title, but still…
