writing here from the plague mismanagement hell of Iowa I can’t overemphasize how deep the ruralish/sub-urban Christian antipathy towards educated experts goes and how it feeds into their sense of self-righteousness and grievance, heard some folks from the former Soviet Union explaining the rise of authoritarian illiberal politics there by noting that if you keep telling people they have to live up to some modern cosmopolitan ideals the unsaid but heard implication is that they are lacking and their treasured way of life backwards so hardly surprising that they push back as they do, our venal Gov just got the J&J shot to try and promote adoption by saying that “some critics” say it’s less effective…
